The Moroccan Association of Actuaries (AMA) in collaboration with the International Actuarial Association (IAA), organised under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Fifth African Actuarial Congress from 15 to 16 of March 2018 in Casablanca under the theme: “Financial Development in Africa, Expertise and Public Interest”. It was a periodic meeting for the actuarial profession. The Fifth edition of the Congress welcomed nearly 300 professionals from the Insurance, Banking & Finance sectors, mainly from countries on the African continent, as well as from other regions around the world. The event put into perspective the dynamics of the insurance, capital markets and banking sectors on the continent, through the intervention of senior executives from different sectors. It was also an opportunity to take stock of the new actuarial and regulatory standards and their applications. The Actuarial Society of Kenya was well represented by Sundeep Raichura, Mukami Njeru, Cyrille Nabutola and Margaret Oyugi, where they demonstrated the gains made by the Society (especially on the Actuarial Academy of East Africa) and its benefit to the regional market.
