The Actuarial Society of Kenya (TASK) has drafted the Minimum Education Standards for Actuarial Science training in Kenya universities. These standards have been called for to address the concern on quality standards of Actuarial Science courses in Kenya universities and the likely risk on the reputation of the actuarial profession.

The draft standards will address the following three areas:

1. Quality of Actuarial
2. Quality of Actuarial
3. Actuarial

The intention is for the Council to use these guidelines for accreditation of actuarial courses, in consultation with the Commission of University Education (CUE), to the applying institutions.

To deliberate on this, TASK’s Education Working Party will hold a webinar that will bring together major Actuarial Science education stakeholders on 21^st August 2020 (Friday) from 2.30pm through https://bit.ly/323SmLg

TASK takes note of the recent court ruling giving CUE authority to accredit university courses. Even though the Minimum Education Standards as attached were originally drafted in March 2020, before this court ruling, it is the intention of TASK to abide by the new guideline and will make the necessary change to highlight the fact that CUE will authorise the Actuarial Courses at universities.

During the webinar, the Council of TASK will therefore seek your comments on the attached documents before these are forwarded to the relevant authorities.
