Bridging the Gap Between Academia & Industry
The TASK Apprenticeship Program is a premier one-year professional development initiative designed to equip aspiring actuaries with the technical expertise, industry exposure, and soft skills necessary for a successful actuarial career.
Through hands-on training, expert mentorship, and structured learning, apprentices gain real-world experience in risk management, financial modeling, data analytics, and business strategy-positioning them as future-ready professionals.

Why Join the TASK Apprenticeship Program?
The TASK Apprenticeship Program offers aspiring actuaries a unique opportunity to gain industry-driven training through technical workshops on pricing, reserving, risk modeling, IFRS 17, data science, and ESG. Participants will work on real-world projects and case studies across insurance, pensions, banking, and risk management, guided by experienced actuaries who provide professional mentorship and career coaching. In addition to technical skills, the program focuses on soft skills development-enhancing communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities to give you a competitive edge. Upon successful completion, participants receive a TASK Apprenticeship Certificate, recognized across the industry for its value in boosting employability.
Program Structure
Phase 1: Orientation & Goal Setting
The sessions are held by a life coach for 4 weeks covering Personal finance, communication and Leadership - from 3rd April to 30th April
Phase 2: Core Technical Training
Each actuarial strand is covered by qualified actuaries in the industry, and each strand will include some data science and analytics and applications of IFRS17.
The General Insurance
from 1st May to 22nd May covering: Introduction to General Insurance & Market Landscape, Products & Underwriting Essentials, Pricing, Reserving & Claims Management, Management, Regulation & Financial Reporting
The Life Insurance
from 29th May to 19th June diving into product types, pricing and product design, valuation techniques including IFRS 17, reinsurance structures, and key risk management approaches.
Health Insurance
from 26th June to 17th July with sessions on health insurance product design and pricing, claims reserving, cost containment, trend analysis, and broader health financing frameworks.
Environmental and Social Governance
from 24th July to 31st August focusing on ESG frameworks, climate risk modeling, sustainability reporting, and the growing role of actuaries in responsible investment.
Public policy and development
from 7th August to 14th August social insurance design, demographic modeling for policy, inclusive finance, and evaluating the impact of actuarial input in policy development.
Enterprise Risk Management
from 21st August to 28th September ERM frameworks, risk appetite and tolerance, capital modeling, stress testing, and Own Risk and Solvency Assessments
Banking and Financial Services
from 4th September to 11th September credit risk modeling (PD, LGD, EAD), regulatory frameworks like Basel III and IFRS 9, loan portfolio analysis, and actuarial roles in banking and fintech
Pension and employee benefits
from 18th September to 25th September pension scheme design, funding techniques, actuarial valuations under IAS 19 and IPSAS 39, and evolving employee benefit trends.
Investment and Asset Management
from 2nd October to 9th October focusing on asset classes, portfolio strategies, ALM, investment risk, and the actuarial perspective on asset performance analysis.
Phase 3: Final Evaluation & Career Planning
- Personalized career guidance and mentorship
- Certification ceremony on the 31st October during the Annual Convention
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a TASK member
- Graduated within the last three years (Standard Member) or in their final year of study (Student Member)
- Kenyan citizen
- Committed to full program participation
