Types of Memberships and Costs

University Student – Ksh. 1,000

A person shall be admitted as a university student member if he/ she has the following qualifications;

  • He/ she is pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science or a degree in a related field to actuarial science; and
  • His/ her application is approved by Council.

Standard Member – Ksh. 5,000

A person shall be admitted as a standard member if he/ she has the following qualifications:

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, post graduate qualification in actuarial science or a degree in a related field to actuarial science; and
  • Is following a course of study for professional examinations as the Council may approve or prescribe; and

His/ her application is approved by Council.

Associate member – Ksh. 12,500

A person shall be admitted as an Associate member if he/ she has the following qualifications:

  • He/ she is an associate of a professional body recognized by Council and
  • His/ her application is approved by Council

An Associate member may use after his/ her name the initials AASK (Associate of The Actuarial Society of Kenya).

Fellow Member – Ksh. 25,000

A person shall be admitted as a Fellow Member if he/ she has the following qualifications;

  • He/ she is a Fellow of a recognized profession body and a fully qualified actuary of a body which is a full member of the International Actuarial Association; and
  • His/her application is approved by Council.

A Fellow member may use afr his/ her name the initials FeASK (Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Kenya) member.

Library Member

Comprising of persons who have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Council that they have a serious and substantial interest in actuarial science, but who are not eligible for membership in another class.

Honorary Member

Comprising of persons who, in the opinion of the Council, has rendered or can render valuable assistance in promoting the objects of the Society. Honorary members shall have the privilege of attending meetings of the Society, but shall not be entitled to vote at any general or other meeting of the Society.
